Rosalyn Fife Averett

Washington, Utah - Rosalyn Fife Averett, age 69, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 after a short illness with her family by her side. She was born February 6, 1943 in Cedar City, Utah to Peter C. and Erma H. Fife. She was the youngest of three daughters. She was raised in Cedar City and graduated from Cedar High in 1961.

She married John W. Averett on April 20, 1962 in Cedar City. They were blessed with two children, Kathy Jo and Chris. Rosalyn enjoyed working at Nisson’s Store for many years, then opened her own bakery business with Delma Paxman, The Country Cousins Gift Shop & Bakery. She worked for P.C. Arts & Crafts and the last 15 years owning her own business with her daughter, Heart Scent Copies.

She is survived by her husband, John; children: Kathy Jo (Johnnie) Cowley and Chris Averett, both of Washington, Utah; and two sisters: Janet (James) Evans and Diane Parr, both of Salem, Oregon. She is also survived by three grandchildren she loved very dearly: Kasey and Kaden Cowley and Shad Averett. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Washington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
