St. George, Utah - Edmund M. "Ted" Wellington, 92, passed away June 24, 2012. He was born February 9, 1920 in Sandy, Utah to John Edmund and Elsie Booth Wellington.

Ted graduated from Delta High School in 1938. After high school, he started working for the Union Pacific Railroad. From January 1942 to October 1945 he served with the 1030th Army Air Force Base Unit stationed in Puerto Rico. After the Army, he returned to work for the Union Pacific Railroad and later Amtrak, a career spanning 48 years, retiring in 1986. In his retirement he enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and a Carribean cruise at the age of 88 with family.

He is survived by his son, Scott Wellington of Chesapeake, VA; daughter, Sharlene Snelson of Fremont, CA; step-daughter, Sharon Bear of Brookside, UT; sister, Myrtle Nielson of Sanford, CO; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona K. Wellington and step-son, Ralph E. Smith.

A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, Pleasant Grove, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
